Those seem to be the choices, then. Do I print my color copies at home on my own printer or do I have color photocopies made by a printing service provider? There are a few factors which will help you make your choice. Let’s look at each one.
How will my copies be used?
If your output may have to survive damp or moist conditions, and you have an inkjet printer, your copies may not be as weatherproof as you’d like. A good quality color laser printing on paper designed to hold the print, will probably be the right choice. If you don’t have this type of printer at home, consider using a printing service provider for this work.
How many copies do I need?
Large quantities of color printing may tax smaller printers beyond their capability. If you will be doing this type of printing often, either invest in a high output color printer or copier or work with a local print service provider.
How comfortable am I with the output I will get?
You may only need 20 copies. However, if you’re not completely comfortable with the expected output from the software you use to generate color originals, you may end up in the print-tweak-print-tweak-print-tweak cycle. If you are not sure of the output, you may want to do your color copying at home at first. Then, when you need high quantity output that requires you to use a print service provider, you can do so with confidence.
